U2charist!
Next One Coming in April!





In 2004, an Episcopalian church in Maryland did something a little different.  They combined their most formal liturgy with the music of the rock group U2, believing that the combination of ancient and future would have a powerful effect on their worshiping community.

They were right.

The U2charist is now a worldwide movement with churches of all denominations.  Bono, along with the rest of U2, has released the copyrights to their music for churches--along with the understanding that 100% of the offering from any U2charist held would go directly to aid for any of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals:  1) End Poverty and Hunger, 2) Universal Education, 3) Gender Equality, 4) Child Health, 5) Maternal Health, 6) Combat HIV/AIDS, 7) Environmental Sustainability, and 8) Global Partnerships.

St. Mark UMC invites you to hear how the United Methodist Church is combatting malaria and our plans to completely wipe it out in several African countries before 2015.  We invite you to learn how you can save lives not only in Africa, but also in Haiti after the earthquake.  We invite you to the ancient liturgy and the Table of God.  We invite you to rock out in worship. 
Why?  Because we believe Jesus rocks.

WRITING CENTER NOW OPEN!! 

 How many times have you thought about sending a note to someone who is celebrating a birthday or an anniversary but don't have the time to shop for a card? What about when you are in worship service and hear about someone who desperately needs a word of encouragement, but you just never seem to find the time to write a note?
    We invite you to use the newly established Writing Center. It is conveniently located in the Narthex under the stained glass window on the west wall. You are welcome to find a card, write a note and place it in the envelope with the name written clearly. We will address it for you and get it in the mail.
   If you are worried that you won't know what to say sometimes a card says it all and you just need to sign your name. Or you can write a short simple phrase like: "I was thinking about you today.".... or.... "I miss you."  Words that are written on a card can be saved and read over and over again. Unlike computer email, a card can be held close to the heart.  You write it...we'll send it!
